Important info

Here you will find all the essential information for your trip to the Holy Land.

Packing

We recommend bringing comfortable walking/hiking shoes, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, swimsuit, water shoes, a Bible, and a camera. With all travel, there are risks of luggage delays, so we recommend packing toiletry items and a change of clothes in your carry-on luggage. Please limit luggage to one suitcase per person and one carry-on per person, as storage space is very limited on the tour bus.

Dress Code

Modest dress is required in religious sites. For the ladies, modest dress is considered to include covered shoulders and knees. You can bring a light scarf to cover the shoulders and/or knees as needed. For visits to the Temple Mount, men and women should wear pants that cover their ankles, and women should wear tops that cover their shoulders and elbows. Head coverings/scarves at the Western Wall are optional. Should there be any dress code instructions, the guide will inform the travelers one day before.

Weather

The weather in Israel is comfortable to travel all year round. We recommend checking the weather forecast before departure and packing accordingly. Summer (June -August): Summer in Israel is hot and dry, especially in the coastal areas. Temperatures can reach over 86 degrees Fahrenheit. It is essential to stay hydrated and protect yourself from the sun during this time. Fall (September – November): The temperature is mostly warm. However, we suggest bringing a light jacket for the evenings, which might be cooler in the north and Jerusalem. Winter (December – February): It can be cold in Israel during the winter months (especially in Jerusalem, which is in a mountainous area) with some rainy days, so we recommend bringing warm clothing as well as an umbrella. In Mount Hermon (far north), there will likely be snow. However, there is rarely snow in Jerusalem. Spring (March – May): During spring, the weather can still be relatively cool but warms up during the day. Pack accordingly by bringing both suitable clothing for cool and warm days. This is a beautiful season of the year, with flowers blooming and the green leaves returning to the trees.

Water

Bottled water is sold on the bus for $1 per bottle (500ml). Tap water is safe to drink in Israel. We recommend you bring a reusable water bottle.

Food

Israeli cuisine is rich and varied. During your trip, you will mainly eat Israeli food such as shawarma, falafel, pita bread, salads, hummus, and more. Most hotel dining rooms and restaurants do not serve non-kosher foods or mix dairy and meat products.

Souvenirs

During the trip, there will be many opportunities to purchase souvenirs from the Land of Israel. While you will encounter many street vendors and boutiques for souvenirs, we do schedule a stop at a tour-approved souvenir shop during your visit. There, you will find everything from small souvenirs to Dead Sea products, handmade olive wood sculptures, coins, antiques, and more.

Electricity

In Israel, the power plug sockets are type C and H. Please bring an adapter for your devices. The standard voltage is 230 V, and the frequency is 50 Hz. If you travel to Israel with a device that does not accept 230 Volts at 50 Hz, you will also need a voltage converter. Hairdryers are provided in each hotel room.

Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is available in every hotel as well as on the tour bus and in some restaurants.

Currency

The local currency is the New Israeli Shekel (NIS). Credit card is accepted almost everywhere, most places and services also accept US dollars. It is highly recommended to bring a small amount of cash with you.

Accessibility

Please note that certain tourist sites are not accessible to wheelchair users.

Insurance

Travel Insurance is not included in the purchase price. TGL TOURS is not responsible for damage, loss, or theft of luggage and/or personal belongings or for personal injury, accident, and/or illness. For your own protection, it is important that you have adequate insurance to cover these possibilities. You should carry proof of insurance in the event you require medical attention while you are in Israel.

Passports and Visa

Tourists from most places in the world, including the USA, do not need a travel visa to enter Israel, only a valid passport with an expiration date of at least 6 months beyond your travel dates. A valid passport is required to leave your country and must be obtained in person by each tour member.
